Caption:  This chart shows results from pool-tail substrate composition analysis of bulk samples taken in Whitlow Creek in 1999 on a logarithmic (log) scale. Increments between marked points go up by a factor of ten. The median particle size (D50) of all samples ranged from 15 mm to just over 30 mm, which is small (Knopp, 1993). Percent fines less than 1 mm ranged from 7-14%, which is within acceptable ranges, but fines < 6mm ranged from 20-34%. Data provided by McBain and Trush (2000). See InfoLinks for more information.
