| Caption: A comparison of surface fine sediment from the Battle Creek Watershed Assessment with U.S. Forest Service data are charted here. Lassen National Forest (LNF) samples represent streams in all land management types, while the USFS Region 5 (FS) data are segregated into managed and undisturbed (Control) watersheds. USFS R 5 covers all of California. Results indicate that surface fines in Battle Creek were highest in both transport (16%) and response reaches (44%). Battle Creek response reaches have fine sediment levels four times higher than the "fully functional" EMDS level (11%) and more than twice as high as measurements for USFS control streams in both response and transport reaches.
