| Caption: The chart shows floating weekly average water temperatures of Glenbrook Creek, Laguna Creek, Muddy Hollow and Santa Maria Creek for fall 1997. Temperature probes were not in place during the summer months, when temperatures are typically warmest. Floating weekly average water temperatures were near 17.0°C when probes were first installed. Based on a review of steelhead growth studies, Sullivan et al. (2000) found that compared to optimum temperatures, a maximum floating weekly average temperature (MWAT) of 17.0°C reduced steelhead growth by 10%, and an MWAT of 19.0°C reduced growth by 20%. Data come from automated water temperature data probes placed by the Point Reyes National Seashore (PORE). See Info Links for more information. | |
