KRIS Sheepscot: Meta Information Page
This page contains detailed information about a data set in KRIS, including where the original data reside and how to contact the sources for the data. Data sets are linked to the appropriate page by means of the Meta Identifier. Many data sets can be linked to same page by sharing the same Meta Identifier.
Meta Identifier | ASC_Efish |
Type of Data | electrofishing |
Originator | Maine Atlantic Salmon Commission |
Description | The Maine Atlantic Salmon Commission (ASC) maintains electrofishing data and survey locations in a linked Microsoft Access - ArcGIS database. Data assembled includes those collected by the ASC, NOAA Fisheries, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service crews. The database contains data on individual fish captured on ASC electrofishing trips on the Sheepscot River from 1958 to 2003 with one record for each data trip and salmon captured and records for other fish species captured and abundance or length weight data where available. A total of 678 surveys are contained in the database. The database includes ASC's calculated densities of Atlantic salmon parr and young-of-the-year for 86 surveys. |

Purpose | Use of the data include: estimation of ATS populations and biomass for Maine salmon rearing areas, evaluation of management practices, information on occurrence of other species in Maine rivers |
Data Quality Information | All data has ungone rigorous QAQC by ASC staff. Some density calculations are negative |
Use Constraints | Species beside Atlantic salmon were not always recorded during surveys, especially older surveys. |
