WQ: Pesticide Concentrations in Maine Atlantic Salmon Rivers 1997 |
|
Caption: This chart shows the range of concentration of Hexazinone measured in seven of Maine's Atlantic salmon rivers by the Maine Board of Pesticide Control. Hexazinone was detected in the Machias River, Narraguagus River, and the Pleasant River. Hexazinone was also detected in the two tributaries of the Narraguagus River: Great Falls Branch and Schoodic Brook. The minimum detected concentration shown on the chart does not include samples were no Hexazinone was detected. Data are from Chizmas (1999), who speculated that the Hexazinone was entering surface waters from groundwater contaminated by agriculture. See Info Links for more information and a link to the Chizmas (1999) document.
