|
Caption: This chart shows the minimum, mean, and maximum calcium levels measured during the Maine Department of Environmental Protection WQM Program's 1999-2001 baseflow study. Data were collected in June-October. Generally, calcium levels are much greater in the West Branch than in the Mainstem Sheepscot and Trout Brook. West Branch Ca levels ranged from 4.76 to 17.10 mg/L whereas Mainstem Sheepscot Ca levels ranged from 2.96 to 7.7 mg/L and Trout Brook Ca levels ranged from 1.99 to 4.30 mg/L. The level of calcium at which salmon would experience a nutrient deficiency is 2.5 mg/L (Arter, 2004). See Info Links for more information.
