Topic	USFS Riparian Tree Size Classes: Britain Creek CalWater 1994

Caption:  The Chart Table Rip_Veg_Sum_Xtab-Gual2.dbf shows riparian tree size classes for the riparian zone for each Gualala River CalWater. It is a product of analysis performed by the U.S. Forest Service in Sacramento in cooperation with the California Department of Forestry (see Info Links for more details). The coverage is based on 1994 Landsat imagery and extensive ground truthing was conducted to assure accuracy. The vegetation classification is accurate at a 1 Hectare scale and is to be used for stand classification. For use in the KRIS Gualala project, six classes of vegetation based on tree diameter were selected and summed at the CalWater Planning Watershed level. See Source Table for complete names. Timber and vegetation classifications are as follows: Very Large Trees = >40" in diameter Large Trees = Trees 30-39.9" in diameter Medium/Large Trees = 20-29.9" in diameter Small/Medium Trees = 12-19.9" in diameter Small Trees = 5-11.9" in diameter Saplings = Trees less than 5" diameter Non-Forest = No trees, shrubs, grass, bare soil
