Caption:  The Wheatfield Fork Gualala River was surveyed from February through April 2001 for steelhead redds and live adult steelhead from House Creek to the South Fork. The highest numbers of live adult steelhead were counted on February 15 with the second highest total on the trip preceding (February 2-3). DeHaven (2002) points out that adult fish early in the season are staging for spawning in headwater areas on subsequent rains. The number of adult fish sighted may also be a product of water clarity.
