The image above shows California Department of Fish and Game Habitat Typing results displayed as maximum pool depth for the North Fork Gualala Basin. The predominance of pools less than two feet deep in the Little North Fork and Doty Creek (Doty Creek Calwater) and in Dry and Robinson Creeks (upper Robinson Calwater), is a clear indication of major aggradation and that salmonid rearing habitat is severely impaired. The mainstem North Fork is a 5th Order stream and shows many pools less than three feet deep in some reaches. Both yearling and older steelhead and coho juveniles need deep pools for successful over summer rearing. Map image based on California Department of Fish and Game data and taken from the KRIS Gualala Map project.
