Habitat: Canopy of NF Gualala Reaches 2001 |
|
Caption: The chart above shows the percentage of the NF Gualala and its tributaries shaded by conifers and deciduous trees as well as open canopy as measured during 2001 habitat typing surveys. Three stream reaches, Dry Creek, Dry Tributary #1 and Robinson Creek, all have open canopy values of 30-40%, which promotes stream warming. All these reaches also have a high component of deciduous trees in the riparian despite being located within coniferous forest. Data provided by the California Department of Fish and Game. See Info Links for more information. See also USFS Riparian Tree Size Classes Topics for more information on riparian health.
