Topic Fish: Adult Steelhead Length of Gualala River Sport Catch 1972-73
 
Caption:  The chart above shows the length of adult steelhead captured in the Gualala River in the 1972-73 fishing season (November-February). Average length was 69 cm or 27.5 inches with a range from 22-97 cm or 10 to 38 inches. The larger adult Gualala River steelhead are usually repeat spawners. Boydstun (1976) said that the average returning adult had spent two years in freshwater and two years in the ocean. Data provided by California Department of Fish and Game (Boydstun, 1975).
