Habitat Typing: Embeddedness for Buckeye Creek |
|
Caption: The chart above shows a summary of embeddedness conditions of stream gravels at pool tail crests in lower Buckeye Creek, according to a 2001 California Department of Fish and Game habitat typing survey. Embeddedness of less than 25% is optimum conditions for spawning and incubation of salmonids and about 14% of Buckeye Creek's gravels sampled met this criteria. No gravels were found to be greater than 75% embedded but the majority of sites measured were either slightly to moderately impaired with regard to potential salmonid spawning.
