This picture shows a hanging culvert which has caused the hillslope below to be eroded at Jack's Opening in the upper Garcia River watershed. Note the poor cover of vegetation below. This photo is of the same culvert but looking down the gully formed by the force of the water from the culvert. The soil on top of the pipe is an indicator of where the pipe used to be covered with road fill. The location of this culvert failure is Jack's Opening in the Upper Garcia sub-basin.
