Caption:  This chart shows results from pool-tail substrate composition analysis of bulk samples taken in Horace's Cabin Creek (aka Grants Cabin Creek) in 1999 on a logarithmic (log) scale. Increments between marked points go up sequentially by a factor of ten. The median particle size (D50) of all samples was between 10 and 20 mm, which is quite small (Knopp, 1993). Percent fines less than 1 mm ranged from 4-8%, which is in the optimal range for salmonids. Data provided by McBain and Trush (2000). See InfoLinks for more information.
