Caption: The above chart plots floating weekly average temperature of the Garcia River above Blue Waterhole Creek for the years 1995-2001. Floating weekly average temperatures exceeded 16.8 degrees during all of June, July and August in all seven years measured. Welsh et al. (2001) found that coho are not likely to persist where maximum floating weekly average temperature (MWAT) exceeds 16.8°C. Temperatures were also well above those recognized to be stressful to steelhead (Sullivan et al., 2000). See InfoLinks for more information. Data provided by the Friends of the Garcia River.
