Michael Maahs designed the structures for bank stabilization, and Joe Scriven and others carried out the project through the Mendocino County Resource Conservation District.
This is a photo of the Derby Creek channel before bank stabilization with large wood. Note the caption on the photo. Same location as Picture #2. Michael Maahs designed the structures for bank stabilization, with exceptions noted above, and Joe Scriven and others carried out the project through Mendocino County Resource Conservation District. This photo shows log arrangement to help deflect flows from banks and to create scour for improved habitat diversity. Michael Maahs designed the structures for bank stabilization, and Joe Scriven and others carried out the project through Mendocino County Resource Conservation District. Joe Scriven of the E-Center Mendocino Fisheries Program stands in the photo with the logs for bank armoring and scour along Derby Creek. See Picture #6 for the same location in winter with more flows. Michael Maahs designed the structures for bank stabilization, and E-Center MFP workers carried out the project through Mendocino County Resource Conservation District. Winter flows with logs in place are deflected from the formerly eroding banks. Michael Maahs designed the structures for bank stabilization, and E-Center MFP workers carried out the project through Mendocino County Resource Conservation District. Joe Scriven of the E-Center Mendocino Fisheries Program stands in the middle of this project photo to provide scale. The arranged large wood represents efforts to stabilize banks and create scour and more complex aquatic habitat. See Picture #8 for the same location. Michael Maahs designed the structures for bank stabilization, and E-Center MFP workers carried out the project through Mendocino County Resource Conservation District.
