Sediment: NF Garcia - Cumulative Distribution, McBain&Trush 1999 |
|
Caption: This chart shows results from pool-tail substrate composition analysis of bulk samples in the North Fork Garcia in 1999. The median particle size (D50) of all samples was between 10 and 30 mm. Percent fines less than 1 mm ranged from 5-15%, which is in the acceptable range for salmonid spawning. However, the sand and fine gravel component comprised 23-37% (<6 mm) of the sample, which is somewhat over optimal levels for salmonid spawning. Data provided by McBain and Trush (2000). See InfoLinks for more information.
