KRIS Garcia River: Meta Information Page
This page contains detailed information about a data set in KRIS, including where the original data reside and how to contact the sources for the data. Data sets are linked to the appropriate page by means of the Meta Identifier. Many data sets can be linked to same page by sharing the same Meta Identifier.
Meta Identifier | Fish_Seine_Gar |
Type of Data | Garcia estuary juvenile fish sampling and habitat typing |
Originator | Pat Higgins |
Description | Seine netting results from three days of sampling at seven sites in the estuary from June-August 1995. Data includes fork lengths, species and number. Water temperature and salinity were also measured at the surface, one meter in depth and two meters if the habitat was that deep. Habitat inventory followed conventions of Starr (1979). |

Purpose | To get a better understanding of the relative importance of the Garcia River estuary/lagoon for rearing habitat for juvenile salmonids, particularly steelhead. |
Data Quality Information | Data quality is high |
Use Constraints | Data cannot be used to estimate population or standing crop of juveniles in the estuary because the study was not designed to accomplish that objective. |
Supplemental Information | Brown (1986) studied the nearby Gualala River estuary. |
