Fish: 2002 Dive Salmonid Count Garcia (GAR_2 & 3) Above Oz |
|
Caption: This chart shows survey results from direct dive observation in the Garcia River at the top of the Hooper property (Oz) on August 21, 2002. The fish community was dominated by young of the year steelhead, but with yearlings present. The river has recently braided at this location with about half the flow deflected to a riffle on the other side of an island. The smaller hole upstream of this larger bedrock formed one had more steelhead juveniles. The dive survey was focused on steelhead abundance and age classification; therefore, observations may under represent species like sculpin and stickleback. See Picture for photographs and InfoLinks for more discussion about methods.
