Aquatic Inverts: Percent Occurrence Below ATT Spill |
|
Caption: The aquatic insect community of the Garcia River downstream of the ATT drilling mud spill was dominated by two species, which comprised over 65% of the sample. This shows that these animals were somehow resistant to the effects of the spill, while others disappeared or decreased. Communities that approach 40% dominance by one taxa are recognized as severely impaired, which is an expected outcome below sources of pollution. Data collected by John Lee on behalf of the Friends of the Garcia River.
