Aquatic Inverts: Percent Occurrence Above ATT Spill |

Caption: This chart shows the species of aquatic insects above the ATT drilling mud spill on the Garcia River according to kick net samples collected by John Lee, aquatic entomologist. While a beetle Optioservis is the most abundant, it comprises only about 19% of the sample and there are several species that approach its abundance, including stoneflies (Isonychia) and mayflies (Baetis). The community of aquatic insects below the spill showed a much different balance (see next Topic). These data were collected on behalf of the Friends of the Garcia River.
