Sediment: Blue Waterhole - Cumulative Distribution, McBain&Trush 1999 |
|
Caption: This chart shows results from pool-tail substrate composition analysis of bulk samples taken in Blue Waterhole Creek in 1999 on a logarithmic (log) scale. Increments between marked points go up sequentially by a factor of ten. The median particle size (D50) of all samples was between 9.5 and just over 20 mm, which is very low (Knopp, 1993). Percent fines less than 1 mm ranged from 5-15%, which is in an acceptable range for salmonid spawning, but sand sized particles(<6 mm) were higher than optimal and ranged from 20.2-39.2%. Data provided by McBain and Trush (2000). See InfoLinks for more information.
